Sealab 2020: The Singing Whale

Kind of surprised this is the only episode of this show I could track down on YouTube... of course, the Adult Swim "Sequel" series Sealab 2021 is all over the place!

Saturday Superstar Movie: The Banana Splits in Hocus Pocus Park!

It's a big post this time around! The Saturday Superstar Movie was an interesting experiment on ABC for one or two seasons... every episode was a pilot for a possible new series! So far as I know, the only ones that were successful were "Yogi's Ark" (piloted as "Yogi's Ark Lark") and "Lassie's Rescue Rangers" (pilot aired as Lassie and the Secret of Thunder Mountain"). Others in the series were "Oliver Twist and the Artful Dodger" (in two parts, probably not a pilot), "Gidget Makes the Wrong Connection," "Robin Hoodnik," "Tabitha and Adam Meet the Clown Family" (the Stevens children from "Bewitched" meet a family musical group that dresses like clowns), "Lost in Space," and "Nanny and the Professor." At least, those are what's listed in "The Encyclopedia of Animated Cartoon Series," but I know there was also one teaming up King Features characters like Flash Gordon, The Phantom, Snuffy Smith, and Popeye, plus Daffy Duck and Porky Pig Meet the Groovie Goolies!

And here's the first Sabrina cartoon for this blog!

The Beatles: Komm Gibt Mir Deine Hand and I'm Only Sleeping!

Komm Gibt Mir Deine Hand is German for "I Want To Hold Your Hand," in case ya didn't know!

The Galaxy Trio - The Peril of the Prison Planet

Well, sadly, the video I intended for this post has been removed from YouTube... and I can't find this episode anywhere else. If this keeps happening, I'll have to replace or just delete all the Galaxy Trio episodes!

Archie's Funhouse Opening

The first installment of Archie stuff I'm presenting here is the opening credits for "Archie's Funhouse"! Sadly, most of the Archie stuff I'll be able to feature here will be music videos from this show, with a few other Archie cartoons (and some Sabrina stuff) here and there.

The Beatles: Taxman and We Can Work It Out

This show ran on ABC from Fall 1965 through Summer of 1969. The show also included singalongs, but I don't believe I'll have any of those here.

Hardy Boys Cartoon Intro!

No complete episodes of this have shown up on YouTube so far, but here's the intro! There are some music videos from the show that'll probably show up here one of these days!

"Hot Wheels" Intro

Unfortunately, nobody seems to have uploaded full episodes of the "Hot Wheels" cartoon... so you'll have to settle for the introduction!

Marvel Super-Heroes: The Origin of Captain America!

The Marvel Super-Heroes Cartoon burst into the syndicated scene in 1966. Produced by Grantway-Lawrence (who would later do the hyphenless "Spiderman"), these limited animation cartoons featured stories taken directly from the comics -- in more ways than one! Original artwork from the comics was photostatted and enlarged to create the cels, and in some instances, artwork from different artists would end up in the same episode! Derided by many, these cartoons still have a nice charm to them, I think!

Featured in these cartoons were Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, the Hulk, and Sub-Mariner. This week's installment features the Origin of Captain America, compiled from Cap episodes 1-3!

NOTE: Sorry the original video was unavailable, but here's a replacement!

Our Initial "Broadcast Schedule"!

Welcome to Saturday Morning Superstars! Thought you might like to know what to expect here each day for the time being. Here's the daily lineup:

Sundays: Marvel Super-Heroes (1960s)
Mondays: Grab Bag - Shows I can't find many episodes or installments of, or other special features!
Tuesdays: Archie (all variations) or Sabrina (one episode) and the Beatles (two episodes)
Wednesdays: Birdman and the Galaxy Trio (one episode each)
Thursdays: The Arabian Knights and the Three Musketeers (from the Banana Splits Show)
Fridays: Space Ghost and the Herculoids (one episode each)
Saturdays: Valley of the Dinosaurs

Hope you'll enjoy them! Once some of these shows finish their "runs," I'll introduce new cartoons! For example, I'll run out of Galaxy Trio before Birdman (because there were two Birdman and one Galaxy Trio episodes per Birdman show), so I'll put something else in there.
